Slides and layouts

Add, duplicate, skip, move and delete slides, pick a layout for each slide, and bring slides in from another presentation.

A presentation is a list of slides. The filmstrip on the left shows them in order, and every command on this page also has a row in the Slide menu.

Add a slide

  • Slide > New slide (Ctrl+M) adds a slide after the current one with the same layout.
  • The arrow beside New slide on the toolbar lists every layout, so you can add a slide with a different one.
  • Right click a card in the filmstrip and choose New slide to add a slide after that card.

Duplicate, delete and skip

CommandKeyWhat it does
Slide > Duplicate slideCmd+D (Ctrl+D on Windows)Copies the selected slides and puts the copies after them.
Slide > Delete slideDeleteRemoves the selected slides. Undo brings them back.
Slide > Skip slideKeeps the slide in the filmstrip, shaded, and leaves it out of the slideshow, the shared view and the downloads. Choose it again to bring the slide back.

Select several cards first to act on all of them: Shift click selects a range, and Cmd click (Ctrl click on Windows) adds one card.

Move slides

Drag a card in the filmstrip to a new place, or use the keys:

Move slide upCmd+UpCtrl+Up
Move slide downCmd+DownCtrl+Down
Move slide to beginningCmd+Shift+UpCtrl+Shift+Up
Move slide to endCmd+Shift+DownCtrl+Shift+Down

Layouts

A layout places the title, the body and the pictures on a slide. Turboslide has 21 layouts: Title slide, Section header, Title and body, Title and two columns, Title only, One column text, Main point, Section title and description, Caption, Big number, Blank, Title, subtitle and body, Ruled rows, Ruled statement list, Title and table, Figure, Pair of figures, Tile grid, Detail grid, Status board, Matrix and Closing.

Slide > Apply layout moves the selected slides to another layout. Your content stays: the title, the body, the lists, the tables and the pictures move into the matching places of the new layout, and anything without a place is kept on the slide. A Section header starts a new section that holds the slides after it.

Change the background

Slide > Change background sets a color or a picture behind the selected slides. Reset to Theme goes back to the theme's background, and Add to Theme uses the color on every slide.

Import slides from another presentation

  1. Open Import slides

Choose File > Import slides. The dialog lists your presentations, or click Upload to pick a Turboslide file (.zip).

  2. Pick the slides

Choose a presentation, then click the slides you want, or All.

  3. Import them

Click Import slides. The copies go after the current slide and take this presentation's theme. The pictures they use are copied too.
